Presentation of the Port of Algeciras to the Japanese Maritime Community

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Japan (SpCCJ) is pleased to invite its members and the wider business community to a special seminar presenting the Port of Algeciras, Spain’s largest port and the fourth-largest in Europe.

Strategically located on the Strait of Gibraltar, the Port of Algeciras handles over 100 million tonnes of cargo annually and serves as a key gateway for international maritime trade. Recognised as Europe’s most efficient container port and 12th worldwide in the World Bank’s 2025 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), Algeciras is also strengthening its position as a leading bunkering port and an emerging green energy hub.

The seminar will bring together senior representatives from the Spanish and Japanese maritime communities to explore developments in international shipping, port competitiveness, supply chain resilience and maritime decarbonisation.

Speakers from the Algeciras Port Authority, IAPH, Maersk and Peninsula, alongside institutional representatives, will share their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of maritime transport.

Following the presentations, participants are invited to join a networking cocktail reception, offering an opportunity to connect with industry leaders and explore potential business collaboration between Spain and Japan.
