On February 17th our Corporate member IE University organizes in collaboration with the Spanish Chambers of Commerce network in Asia, the Online Masterclass “Persuasion and Social Psychology“ by IE Professor Jaime Veiga Mateos.
Most facets of business rely on persuading others. In sales, the goal is to convince the buyer that your product or service is better than your competitors’. In a job posting, it’s to persuade the candidate that your company is better than others.
In this Masterclass you will learn why some techniques work when influencing others – you will discover the role of empathy, and 6 strategies proven effective when persuading others. We will use examples from different sectors and there will be some hands-on activities for you!

About IE Professor Viega
With a career of over 20 years in leading global Consumer Goods & Healthcare corporations, he started as a Research & Development Chemical Engineer at Procter & Gamble, in Brussels after which he moved to a Product Research role, where he discovered market research when qualifying fabric softener formula to be launched in Russia, Eastern Europe & Saudi Arabia. Later he moved to Madrid where he studied “the shopper”, developed his research techniques and took on all market research of beauty and Gillette categories in Spain.
In 2009 he became the Market Research Senior Manager Western Europe, where he managed a team of experts on research at the point of sale. In 2011 he returned to Madrid as Shopper Market Senior Manager, where he’s an expert on the shopper, working closely with sales teams and key distributors. Since 2015 he is Consumer Business Insights Leader at Johnson & Johnson for Southern Europe.
Professor Veiga has been lecturing at IE since 2011, becoming the Academic Director for the Market Research & Consumer Behaviour program in 2015.
