List of SJBCA Winners

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Japan (SpCCJ) is pleased to open nominations for the Spain–Japan Business Contribution Awards (SJBCA), recognising excellence in bilateral business relations between Spain and Japan.

The 2025 edition marked the 10th anniversary of the Awards — a key milestone celebrating a decade of recognising outstanding contributions to Spain–Japan economic engagement.
To commemorate this edition, SpCCJ introduced a new nomination system, enabling broader participation from members and increasing visibility for impactful initiatives across the community.

Previous editions

2016 – LaLiga

The inaugural award was presented to LaLiga. Its President, Javier Tebas, attended the ceremony in Japan. LaLiga was recognised for its impact on the Japanese football ecosystem, spanning broadcasting, digital innovation, merchandising, and sports tourism.

2017 – Rakuten, Inc.

The award was presented to Hiroshi Mikitani, CEO of Rakuten, Inc., in recognition of the company’s strong investment footprint in Spain and its role in strengthening bilateral commercial ties.

 

2018 – Gestamp Autotech Japan

Gestamp was recognised for its expansion in Japan, including the establishment of an R&D centre in Tokyo and a production facility in Mie Prefecture.

2019 – Fast Retailing Co., Ltd.

The award ceremony took place at the residence of H.E. Jorge Toledo, Ambassador of Spain to Japan. Fast Retailing was recognised for its expansion in Spain through its flagship brand UNIQLO.

2020 – Japan Airlines & Amadeus IT Group S.A.

For the first time, a joint award was presented to Japan Airlines and Amadeus IT Group, recognising their partnership and contribution to strengthening Spain–Japan commercial relations.

2021 – Sports&Life (Andrés Iniesta)

The award was presented to Andrés Iniesta and his company Sports&Life, in recognition of his contribution to both sports and business relations between Spain and Japan.

2022 – NTT DATA, Inc.

NTT Data was recognised for its contributions to Spain in areas such as digital transformation, direct investment, and strategic market development.

2023 – Hitachi Group

Hitachi received the award for expanding its presence in Spain and contributing to key sectors including mobility, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure.

2024 – ITX Japan Corp.

ITX Japan was recognised for its sustained contribution to Spain–Japan commercial relations. The ceremony took place at The Peninsula Tokyo, gathering over 100 distinguished guests.

2025 – Iberia Airlines & Fujitsu Group

The 10th edition introduced, for the first time, two award categories — one recognising a Spanish company and one a Japanese company.

    • Iberia Airlines (Spain Category) was recognised for strengthening connectivity between Spain and Japan.
    • Fujitsu (Japan Category) was awarded for its long-standing contribution to Spain’s digital transformation.

The ceremony took place on 28 November 2025 at ENEKO Tokyo, marking a return to the Awards’ origins.

Call for Nominations

We invite members to nominate companies that demonstrate excellence in advancing Spain–Japan business relations.

Members may submit nominations for their own companies or propose other organisations based on publicly available information, including news, official announcements, or other verified sources.

Submit your nomination or propose a company that exemplifies innovation, cross-border collaboration, and sustained impact.

Key Dates

  • Opening of Nominations: April 17
  • Submission Deadline: May 17
  • Award Ceremony:  November TBC

Rules & Eligibility

Legal Entity Requirement

    • The nominee must be a legally registered company with an established presence in Spain or Japan.
    • The company must demonstrate active business engagement with the counterpart country.

Contribution to Bilateral Business Relations

The nominee must demonstrate a significant contribution through one or more of the following:

    • Trade, investment, or supply chain integration
    • Bilateral partnerships or joint projects
    • Innovation, research and development, or market expansion
    • Job creation, skills development, or talent training
    • Promotion of Spain–Japan branding, culture, or values in a business context

Track Record

The company must have operated for at least three consecutive years in its market.
