Having worries or difficulties with working with Spanish people and companies? Spanish business culture can be different from Japanese ones and sometimes gives you a culture shock.

In this introduction online course, we will give you tips on doing business with Spanish companies/ people. You will learn all the business essentials from meeting etiquette to basic but useful words in business scenes.

Introduction to Spanish Business Etiquette is a freemium online course aimed to help all the professionals in Japan working in business environments where Spanish is used. 

The Freemium Plan contains 10 videos that introduce some basic Spanish concepts including writing emails, working & meeting culture, business vocabulary… 

The Premium plan adds 5 more videos to the content and gives access to email tutorships and 2 online lessons with extra content all conducted by our course professors. 

Goals

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to find yourself in a more comfortable situation, understand and interact naturally in a Spanish professional environment.

Who will you learn from?

スぺラボ について 

スぺラボ (Supelabo) is an online Spanish course for advanced students and local residents of Spain. The professors are native Spanish teachers, interpreters and translators with practical experience. You can learn both the Spanish used in business and real-life with original teaching materials and tutorials that reflect the latest industry trends. This course is led by Novajika.

The Spain Business Etiquette Online Course has been designed by スぺラボ and the SpCCJ to offer a beginner level course to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce business network in Japan.

Academic Director

Jordi Juste

Jordi Juste has a PhD in Communication from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, and a Bachelor of Journalism from the UAB.

Since 2008, he has combined his work as a associate professor at the UOC’s Communication studies with producer work on shootings for Japanese companies in Spain. He is also a journalist and translator for business projects. Between 1998 and 2008 he taught Spanish at various Japanese universities, including Kyoto Gaidai and Ritsumeikan.

Teacher

Elena Hernández

Elena Hernández is a conference interpreter for English and Japanese and a sworn translator for Japanese by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting (UAB) and a Law Degree (UOC) and a Master’s Degree in Conference Interpreting (UAB). 

She combines her work as a freelance translator and interpreter in multiple fields with teaching Japanese at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and English-Spanish legal translation at the Pompeu Fabra University.

Certificate of Completion

What will you need?

  • Computer access with an internet connection and microphone in case you would like to interact during the class. Questions could be sent by chat box too.
  • Notebook and pen for taking notes

How many students will be in the class?

We would like the lessons to be interactive, therefore a maximum number of 10 students will be gathered per session. 

How you can join the online lesson?

A link to join the session will be sent separately before the day of the lesson. 

The tutorship periods will allow you to send all your doubts to #Supelabo‘s professors. It’s like having your own private teacher!

How can you send your questions?

The questions will be sent by email. After the registration, you will receive a confirmation email with all the instructions.

What kind of questions can you send?

Any kind of related question with the video lessons, business or commercial environment,  Spanish culture and business etiquette.

For example:

  • How should I ask in Spanish for the person in charge of the Purchasing Department?
  • What I should say if I will not be able to arrive at the meeting on time?
  • From what time in the morning is ok to make a phone call?

Is there a limit to the questions you can send?

 A limit of 3 questions per person and day will be answered by the professors. 

Which language should you use?

Feel free to send your question either in Spanish or Japanese and remember to indicate in which language would you like to receive the answer.
