SUMMARY:20/20 Vision and the Art of Seeing
DESCRIPTION:Dear SpCCJ Members & Friends\, \nOn 19 August our Corporate member IE University organizes in collaboration with the Spanish Chambers of Commerce network in Asia\, an online seminar inviting Sandra Comas\, MBA teaches at IE Business School and Brown University. \nA few of the most influential business visionaries of our time have created unique\, driving images of what a company can imagine and implement to create maximum impact. Some to consider include Jeff Bezos at Amazon\, Arianna Huffington of Huffington Post\, Travis Kalanick and Dara Khosrowshahi at Uber\, the leadership at Samsung and a young startup\, Digital Energy. As organizations grow from start-up to global change-makers\, their vision of themselves and the world shows continuous adaptation and innovation. What can we learn from them and their challenges that can be integrated into our own unique leadership practice? How are these companies\, and others\, re-imagining their vision for a short and long-term future? What is transformed\, and in what ways\, by a global health crisis of Covid-19’s scale and reach? \nIn this session\, we focus on the essential leadership practice of developing and communicating a vision for an organization. We compare the vision of great artists to those of change-making business leaders who inspire us to view the world in new ways and to bring these views to life. We consider how these visionaries show the pathways and processes for becoming creative and innovative leaders who will shape change in the 21st century\, especially now as we seek to tame or solve the global pandemic and its consequences for business\, local and global trade. \nEvent Details \nDate: Wednesday\, 19 August 2020\nPlace: Zoom Online Webinar\nTime: 19:00 – 20:30 JST\nLanguage: English\nRegistration: https://www.cognitoforms.com/\nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday\, 19 August\, 12:00pm \nOnly for SpCCJ Members \nThis is a SpCCJ Members Only Event.\nAre you not a Member yet? Find out more about the membership category and benefits on our website and  contact us at info@spanishchamber.or.jp. How did Peloton raise $1.2 billion in an IPO? The answer is that the Subscription Economy is here. People want Netflix and Uber experience in all aspects of their life. \nAt IE Business School\, we have been teaching that all businesses are SaaS businesses on the Owners Scaleup Program since 2018. SUMMARY:Raising Private Capital in a COVID-19 World: Outlook for PE and VC
DESCRIPTION:On 8 July our Corporate member IE University organizes in collaboration with the Spanish Chambers of Commerce Network in Asia\, an online seminar inviting Paolo Giancane\, who teaches executive programs for IE School of Architecture and is responsible for a course on blockchain and cryptocurrencies at IE University in Madrid. \nRaising Private Capital in a COVID-19 World: Outlook for PE and VC \nEven before the global health emergency was declared in late January\, private equity funding had started to cool and investors were already losing their appetite for money-losing companies. \nThen\, the global outbreak shocked the world leaving investors trying to analyze the short and long-term impacts across industries and the capital markets. All these issues relate to investment decision making\, assessments of market movements and the viability of market sectors. \nThis master class will provide an overview of how the Private Equity and Venture Capital funding are impacted by Covid-19\, which the investment sector is more likely to experience more outflows and what we could learn from the SARS outbreak back in 2002 on the Asian private market funding. \nMoreover\, the lecture intends to offer insights on how investment professionals are all trying to predict the lasting effects of the crisis on markets and economies\, and eventually on portfolio allocations. \n

SUMMARY:Back In Business: How is the way we travel going to change in the new normal?
DESCRIPTION:Before COVID-19\, Spain was the 2nd most visited country in the world with over 83 million tourists arriving per year\, this number is almost twice the country’s population. Japan was also experiencing two-digit annual growth rate in terms of visitors in the recent years and was expecting to break records with the Tokyo Olympics. \nUnfortunately\, COVID-19 has changed the outlook drastically. With borders closed and lockdowns worldwide\, the travel industry is facing one of its hardest crises in history\, affecting Spain and Japan’s economies enormously. \nHow will the travel industry restart its business again while committing to a safe environment for travellers? Can we travel again easily like we used to? Will Spain or other countries in Europe be able to reactivate their tourism industry and bring international visitors back?  Will Japan be able to re-open its borders to foreigners soon? \nTo analyse this scenario\, the SpCCJ is organising a webinar on June 30th with key guests from the travel industry: Kai Jacobsen\, Vice President\, Japan at AMADEUS and Celia Muñoz\, Sales Director EMEA\, USA and Asia at IBERIA. The event will be moderated by Maruan El Mahgiub\, Director of Business Strategy at Mormedi an internationally recognised boutique design and innovation consultancy\, with vast experience in the aviation world. \nJoin us for a presentation to hear from key players of the travel industry. \nAbout our key guests:\nKai Jacobsen started his career in airline industry with Lufthansa in Germany\, and has been with Amadeus for  the past 15 years.  After carrying out various roles in the commercial organization at Amadeus HQ in Madrid\,  in 2014\, Kai became in charge of the Amadeus’s Airline Distribution Business in Asia Pacific based in Singapore.  Since 2019\, he was relocated to Japan to take care of the Airline Cluster. \nCelia Muñoz joined Iberia 19 years ago as an Internal Consultant of the Cargo Department. After taking care of Italy\, Portugal\, Turkey\, Belgium and Holland as Country Account Manger\,  she moved to the International Sales Department for Europe and Africa\, where she later got promoted to the Head of  Department\, additionally taking care of operations in Asia. In 2018 Celia became Sales Director for EMEA\, USA and Asia\, and since then she has been leading and developing IB strategies for these areas. \nMaruan EL Mahgiub has over 15 years of international experience\, with roles in both communications and corporate strategy. He spent some years working in strategic communications in Tokyo\, where he managed partnerships with companies in 15 countries. After graduating from IE Business School’s International MBA program\, Maruan focused on business strategy as a management consultant in London\, then he moved to Madrid as Director of Business Strategy at Mormedi\, an internationally recognised boutique design and innovation consultancy. \nEvent Details \nDate: Tuesday\, 30 June\nPlace: Zoom Online Webinar\nTime: 16:00 – 17:00 JST\nLanguage: English\nRegistration: BackInBusiness \nRegistration Deadline: Tuesday\, 30 June\, 12:00pm\nPrice: Free (Only for SpCCJ Members)\nThis will be an off the record event. \nThis is a SpCCJ Members Only Event.\nAre you not a Member yet? Find out more about the membership category and benefits on our website and  contact us at info@spanishchamber.or.jp. Just as an example\, Zoom is now worth more than the sum of the 5 biggest airlines in the US. \nHowever\, the larger the IT infrastructure is\, the higher the likelihood of having vulnerabilities. Covid-19 has changed the security landscape enormously and\, probably\, forever. Just to give you an example\, there has seen an increase of 14.000% in spam and phishing. \nOn 9 June the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Japan organises an online seminar inviting Gerard Salvador López\, Senior Cloud Transformation Specialist at IBM to hear what is currently happening in the world of IT from a cyber-security perspective. \nPassionate about the potential of technology and the risks of it\, Gerard Salvador López has worked as a Cloud Strategist at Siemens in Belgium\, lead the Engineers Without Borders NGO\, hosted a TEDx event and wrote a book about the future of technology\, “Too tech to fail”. He holds an Engineering Degree and a Master in Business Administration at Vlerick Business School in Belgium. For more information\, you can take a look into his website: www.gerardsl.com. \nThis webinar is free of charge for SpCCJ Members. \nIf you are not a Member yet and interested in joining the SpCCJ\, find out more about the membership category and benefits on our website and contact us at info@spanishchamber.or.jp. Membership available from JPY10\,000/year. \nEvent Details\nDate: Tuesday\, 9 June 2020\nPlace: Zoom Online Webinar\nTime: 17:00 – 18:00 JST\nLanguage: English\nPrice: SpCCJ Members FREE | Non-members 2\,000 JPY\nRegistration: https://www.cognitoforms.com/SpanishChamberOfCommerceInJapan/SecurityThreatsInThisNewWorld \nRegistration Deadline: Tuesday\, 9 June\, 12:00pm

SUMMARY:After the Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:What will the world look like after the pandemic? The question\, increasingly\, is no longer whether we will return to normal after the pandemic\, but whether we really want to return to normal. Labor\, the environment\, the economy\, education and healthcare are just five examples of things that should change after this crisis. Are we really sure that we want to go ‘back to normal’ after the pandemic? Did we like that ‘normality’ so much? And since we have managed to make a clean break with it… why not take advantage and move on to something better? \nOn 22 April our Corporate member Ie University organises in colaboration with the Spanish Chambers of Commerce network in Asia\, an online seminar inviting Enrique Dans\, Professor of Innovation at IE University. \nProfessor Enrique Dans has a Bachelor in Science from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela\, an MBA from Instituto de Empresa and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from UCLA. He is the author of two books\, “Todo va a cambiar” (“Everything is gonna change”) in 2010\, and “Viviendo en el futuro” (“Living in the future“) in 2020. He writes daily in Spanish in his page\, enriquedans.com\, since 2003\, also in English on Medium\, and regularly in general and economic press\, such as his column on Forbes. \nThis is a SpCCJ Members Only Event.\nAre you not a Member yet? Find out more about the membership category and benefits on our website and  contact us at info@spanishchamber.or.jp \nEvent Details \nDate: Wednesday\, 22 April 2020\nPlace: Zoom Online Webinar\nTime: 17:00 – 18:00 JST\nLanguage: English\nMembers Only\nRegistration: https://www.cognitoforms.com/SpanishChamberOfCommerceInJapan/AfterThePandemic\nRegistration Deadline: Monday\, 20 April\, 12:00pm
