SUMMARY:Women in business leadership roles: Lessons learnt
DESCRIPTION:International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 8 March to recognise the social\, economic\, cultural\, and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. \nAccording to UN Women\, 20 per cent more women in Asia-Pacific hold managerial positions today than two decades ago. Parity\, however\, has not been achieved in the bulk of countries across the region. Disturbingly\, women’s representation in middle and senior management jobs is even lower with only 17 % of senior and middle management jobs in the region occupied by women. \nTo raise awareness of the importance of gender equality and to discover the lessons learnt by those who have been able to break the gender gap\, the network of Official Spanish Chambers of Commerce in the Asia Pacific region is hosting a panel discussion inviting international female leaders from different industries and different cultural backgrounds. \nJoin us on March 23 for an evening of discussion\, reflection and discourse with a panel of successful women business leaders. You will hear about their journeys\, mindset and collective experiences across different sectors and countries. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate: Wednesday\, 23 March 2022\nPlace: Zoom Online Webinar\nTime: 17:00 – 18:30 JST\nLanguage: English\nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday\, 23 March 2022\, 12:00pm JST\nEvent Registration: WomenInBusinessLeadershipRolesLessonsLearnt  \nAre you not a member of the SpCCJ yet? Find out more about the membership category and benefits on our website and contact us at info@spanishchamber.or.jp. SUMMARY:The Key For Activating The Japanese Renewable Power Market
DESCRIPTION:LEARN FROM THE EFFORTS OF EUROPEAN & US COMPANIESWe are delighted to announce that SpCCJ’s Corporate Member\, X-Elio will be speaking at the webinar entitled “The key for activating the Japanese renewable power market – Learn from the efforts of European & US companies -“\, together with ZECPOWER Inc. and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The webinar will be co-hosted by the Institute of Energy Economics\, Japan and the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation\, in collaboration with the SpCCJ. The spread of renewable power in Japan has been promoted through the feed-in tariff (FIT) since 2012\, but from 2022\, it will shift to the market-linked price difference supply system called FIP (Feed-In-Premium). In addition\, the non-fossil value trading market\, which trades the non-fossil value of power as a certificate\, started in 2018 and the system will be reformed this year. It is expected that more reasonable non-fossil value transactions will be expanded. These institutional reforms will be carried out in response to the demands of end-users of the power who are committed to the efforts of Net Zero such as RE100. At the same time\, the efforts of on-site and off-site corporate PPA are also expanding. In Europe & US\, a market system centred on renewable energy has already been established and many players are developing various businesses to popularize net-zero electricity. Based on this situation\, the institutional trends for activating the Japanese renewable power market and the efforts of European & US companies will be introduced for exploring the path of renewable energy power generation toward 2050 carbon neutrality in this webinar. SUMMARY:Tokyo 2020 Paralympics—One Day to Go! The Impact of the Tokyo Paralympics in 1964 and 2021
DESCRIPTION:The Paralympics are coming to Tokyo! Join us for this special event co-hosted by the Paralliance – a coalition of 20 international chambers of commerce in Japan. The Paralympics often improve accessibility for people with an impairment in the country where the Games are hosted. In fact\, the Games are an excellent way to raise awareness about such people\, as well as the ways in which they can lead productive and happy lives. This was particularly true in 1964 when problems faced by people with an impairment in Japan often went unseen. Indeed\, the 1964 Paralympics\, supported very visibly by then-Crown Prince Akihito and Crown Princess Michiko\, put a whole new level of capability and way of life on display—not only for the Japanese athletes and their families and friends but for all of Japanese society. In the 21st century\, our definition of impairment has significantly broadened as Japan’s rapidly aging society has led to a demographic shift. Leaders and citizens alike have come to realize that the needs and goals of individuals with a physical impairment often align with those of the elderly. Accordingly\, they have started to leverage available knowledge\, tools\, and resources that will enable them to lead full and enjoyable lives. Join Dr. Mark Bookman\, a historian of disability in Japanese and global contexts at the University of Tokyo. He will use the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games\, which will take place August 24–September 5\, and the 1964 Paralympics as case studies to explain how activists and legislation have both failed and succeeded to point a way forward for people with an impairment\, who\, according to the United Nations\, make up 15 percent of the world’s population. And if you believe there is a correlation between aging and impairment\, then that number is actually closer to 100 percent of those who make it into their golden years.
