This year’s AGM marks the Chamber’s return to a fully in-person gathering and represents an important institutional milestone for our Spain–Japan business community. Participation is free of charge for members. Governance & ElectionsThe AGM is the highest decision-making body of the Chamber. During the statutory session\, members will: Review FY2025 activities and financial performance\n\nApprove the FY2026 budget\n\nReceive the results of the Board of Directors election (2026–2028 term)Voting will be conducted in advance via online secret ballot. No voting will take place during the AGM session. Special SessionJapan After the Election: Political Direction & Business ImplicationsFollowing the statutory meeting\, members will attend an exclusive political outlook session focused on Japan’s evolving policy landscape after the recent election. \n\nAs Japan recalibrates its political direction\, companies must navigate shifting policy priorities\, regulatory developments\, and geopolitical dynamics. This session will explore what the new political environment means for businesses operating in Japan and within the Spain–Japan corridor. \n\nThe session will be delivered by Kazumoto Eguchi\, Senior Partner at Kreab Tokyo\, bringing extensive experience in public policy and government relations in Japan. Networking ReceptionThe evening will conclude with a networking reception\, offering members the opportunity to reconnect\, exchange perspectives\, and strengthen business relationships. After several years of primarily virtual governance formats\, this AGM provides an important moment to meet again in person. DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Annual General Meeting will be held online on Thursday\, 23 March\, from 17h JST until 19h JST.  \nAGENDA \n\n\n\nConsent to hold a virtual AGM: The Members should agree on the meeting format.\nAmendments to the AoI: Adapt the text to the State’s legal counsel suggestions.\nFY2022 Financial statements: The SpCCJ presents its last year’s financial statements to its members for approval.\nFY2023 Budget: The SpCCJ presents its FY2023 budget to its members for approval.\nElection of the board of directors and auditor: The members elect the board of directors for the period 2022 – 2024.\n\n\n\nAll the documentation will be shared with the members during the voting process. \n  \nOn Friday\, March 3\, the SpCCJ will begin accepting applications for the 2023-2024 SpCCJ Board of Directors term. Below you will find everything you need to know about the upcoming elections\, what being on the SpCCJ’s board entails requirements to become and member of the board\, and why you may wish to consider joining\, to help steer one of Japan’s active and fast-growing chambers in the year ahead. \nServing as a board member of the SpCCJ is an exceptional opportunity to lead and develop activities central to the Spain-Japan business network. While serving on the board requires energy\, drive and commitment\, it also provides a rewarding opportunity to give back to the community\, fostering growth opportunities between the two nations. \nBoard of Directors\nThe Board of Directors is a group of 5-15 current SpCCJ corporate members\, elected by other members to address pressing issues and strategies on how to ensure that the organization is operating in the best interest of its stakeholders\, including shareholders\, customers\, employees\, and the community. \nThe Board of Directors decide the purpose and the overall direction of the SpCCJ\, and puts in place the strategy for achieving the goals set out for the year. Key responsibilities of the board\, in combination with the SpCCJ’s Executive Director\, include: \n\nSetting suitable organisational aims and objectives;\nSetting a budget which allows the SpCCJ to fulfil its purpose;\nAgreeing on policies\, targets and priorities;\nMonitoring and reviewing the performance of the SpCCJ and the Secretariat.\n\nEach board member will elect to join one of 6 working groups\, all of which the SpCCJ has identified as crucial for the future sustainable growth of business in Japan. The working groups help define themes\, content and events of interest to the Chamber and support membership growth.

DESCRIPTION:The time has come for the 2021 Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Japan’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).The AGM is an important yearly function for all members in good standing to attend and gives the Chamber of Commerce an opportunity to communicate with members and demonstrate organizational accountability. The 2021 AGM will take part on March 18\, from 5 pm JST (10 am CET). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we proceed with our formal AGM as a webconference meeting.
